Anti-war protests organised in Glasgow and Edinburgh
Emergency protests against UK air strikes in Syria have been organised tonight in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The gatherings will take place at Buchanan Street steps in Glasgow and the east end of Princes Street at 5pm today.
Protest group Stop the War Coalition, which organised a march in London on Saturday, announced the events via social media.

In a statement the group said: “David Cameron's incoherent proposals for action in Syria will do nothing to weaken Isis but will instead inflame the civil war, deepen the misery of the Syrian people and increase the terrorist risk. We are urging MPs to consider carefully before voting to take Britain into our fourth war in fourteen years.”
UK military action in Syria looks more likely after Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn agreed to give his MPs a free vote when parliament is expected to debate the issue this week.
Corbyn, a member of the Stop the War Coalition, today told his Shadow Cabinet he would suspend collective responsibility to allow them to vote with their consciences, with many MPs likely to back David Cameron’s call for RAF air strikes.
It is thought a three-line whip against military action would have triggered a wave of frontbench resignations.
Peter Willsman, a member of Labour’s ruling National Executive Committee, argued Labour MPs should be whipped and that any dissenters had "no respect" for party conference.
"We’ve got to stop as many Labour MPs as possible going with the Tories, right? They’re not there to vote with the Tories, they’re there to vote with Labour and to follow the Labour party conference policy," he told Radio 4's World at One.
Jeremy Corbyn has written to David Cameron to ask for two days to be set aside for the Syria debate.
