UK Government says no decision made on GB Energy headquarters

The UK Government has denied claims that it has selected Aberdeen for the headquarters of GB Energy.

The publicly-owned firm will be based somewhere in Scotland, but the government has not yet confirmed where this will be.

The Department of Energy Security and Net Zero has now denied a BBC report which claimed that Aberdeen had been chosen.

A spokesperson for the department, which is headed by Ed Miliband, said no decision has yet been taken.

A bill on GB Energy will be presented to the House of Commons on Thursday by energy minister Michael Shanks.

A Department for Energy Security and Net Zero spokesperson said: "We do not comment on speculation. Decisions on Great British Energy's location will be announced in due course."
