Tom Tugendhat eliminated from Tory leadership race
Tom Tugendhat has become the latest candidate to be eliminated from the race to become the next leader of the Conservatives.
The MP for Tonbridge and Malling received 31 votes in the latest round of voting, 27 votes behind Kemi Badenoch, who came fourth.
Rishi Sunak, the former Chancellor, received 115 votes, while Penny Mordaunt got 82 and Liz Truss 71.
In a statement posted on Twitter, Tugendhat said: "Although it wasn't to be today, I am immensely proud of the positive vision we put forward for our country."
A fourth round of voting will take place tomorrow, with the announcement made at 4pm.
A final round of voting will take place on Wednesday before party members pick between the remaining two candidates, with the result announced on September 5.
