Scottish Liberal Democrats to announce education plans
The Scottish Liberal Democrats will use a Holyrood debate today to launch their plans for Scottish education, which they say will “save Scotland’s education system”.
Central to the plans is a call for the UK Government schools funding scheme the pupil premium to be adopted in Scotland.
The pupil premium gives schools extra funding to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils, and was introduced by the coalition government.
Speaking ahead of the debate, leader Willie Rennie said the SNP had delivered “devastating” cuts to education.
"Bold action is needed urgently to save our education system and the progressive plan I will announce would make the biggest investment in Scottish education since devolution,” he said.
