Scottish Greens launch Holyrood manifesto

Scottish Greens launch Holyrood manifesto

The Scottish Greens launch their manifesto this morning as it hopes to return more MSPs to the Scottish parliament than ever before.

Recent polls have suggested the party may beat its previous best showing of seven in 2003, and the party hopes to gain an MSP in every region.

In 2011 only Patrick Harvie and Alison Johnstone were elected, but former SNP MSPs John Wilson and John Finnie are standing for the party in this election.

The manifesto will call for a “bolder” Scottish parliament on issues like fracking, housing and inequality. Ahead of the launch, a spokesperson for the Scottish Greens said:

"As serious questions are asked about Labour's PFI/PPP legacy, the Scottish Greens' manifesto will demonstrate the importance of investing in public services rather than cutting corners. And as public anger grows over the latest tax-dodging revelations, we will show how our commitment to real land reform can ensure Scotland leads the way.

"Our progressive policies will reduce inequality and raise extra funds to improve the education, health and social care that we all need.”
