Scottish Conservatives investigating Ross Thomson Westminster bar incident

The Scottish Conservatives are investigating an incident which saw police intervene involving Aberdeen South MP Ross Thomson.

Reports have emerged that police officers were called to a House of Commons bar after complaints of “sexual touching” between three men.

Strangers’ Bar is a busy bar on the terrace at Westminster where MPs often take guests.

In a statement the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 23:00 on 5 February to a bar within the Palace of Westminster following a report of sexual touching.

"Officers attended and spoke to the parties involved - three men in their 20s and 30s. However, no formal allegations were made to the officers and no arrests were made."

The party later confirmed the matter was “being looked into” internally but there had been no formal complaint made against Thomson.

Since he swapped Holyrood for Westminster in the 2017 snap election, Thomson has proved a controversial figure in the party.

He was criticised for posing for holiday snaps on the throne of Iraq’s brutal former dictator Saddam Hussein. The passionate Brexiteer has also clashed with Scotland Secretary David Mundell, calling fellow Scottish Conservatives “a***holes” on twitter for criticising Boris Johnson.
