Ruth Davidson named in Time magazine's top 100 people
Ruth Davidson has been included in Time magazine’s top 100 list of the most influential people in the world.
The Scottish Tory leader was included in the list, which also includes US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, as a “pioneer” following her party’s success in the 2016 and 2017 elections.
It comes after Nicola Sturgeon was named as the second highest-ranked woman from the UK, behind the Queen, in last year’s Forbes list of the world’s most powerful women.
Writing a profile of the Tory leader, historian Niall Ferguson suggested Davidson could be a future Prime Minister after her “refreshing, rambunctious style” helped her turn her party’s fortunes around.
A spokesman for the Scottish Conservatives said: "Ruth's extremely honoured to be included on such a list.
"And while she's flattered to receive an accolade from across the Atlantic, her full focus remains on her job here in Scotland."
London Mayor Sadiq Khan was also included in the list, under the category of “leaders”.
