Queen will appoint next prime minister at Balmoral
The Queen will appoint the next prime minister in Scotland for the first time.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed Her Majesty, who is currently at Balmoral, will stay north of the border for the changeover of leadership.
Boris Johnson and his successor are expected to travel to meet her on Tuesday 6 September.
Either Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak will be confirmed as the leader of the Conservative Party on Monday.
The Palace has not provided a reason for not travelling down to London but the Queen, 96, has reportedly had mobility issues in recent months.
Prime ministers are traditionally appointed during a visit to Buckingham Palace.
The last one not to be was Herbert Henry Asquith, who travelled to Biarritz in France for his appointment in 1908 under King Edward.
