Police Scotland ends investigation into Alex Salmond leak
"No further action" will be taken by police over the alleged leak of details from a government investigation into sexual harassment claims against former First Minister Alex Salmond.
Salmond, who is no longer an MSP, faced criminal charges after allegations emerged about his conduct. He denied wrongdoing and was acquitted of all charges by a jury in a High Court trial in 2020.
The Scottish Government reported sexual misconduct allegations to the police following an internal investigation.
Officers then began a separate investigation, named Operation Newbiggin, in relation to the alleged leak of the findings of that Scottish Government inquiry.
Now it has emerged that the process is over, with "no further action" being taken.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Our enquiries are now complete and no further action is being taken. Should further information become available, this will be considered."
