Outlook users still locked out of accounts
Outlook users worldwide are still unable to access their email accounts, despite Microsoft claiming it is “back up and running”.
On Saturday night an outage hit Microsoft services, leaving users logged out of their accounts. Shortly after, Microsoft 365 took to X to say it was “investigating the issue”, and in a follow-up post revealed a coding issue was the “suspected” cause of the outage.
Yesterday Microsoft said it had resolved the “problematic code change” issue and today Outlook told users on X it was “back up and running”.
It said: “Thank you for your patience while we resolved the issue.”
However, users are still flocking to social media platforms reporting issues logging into their accounts, citing problems with the platform’s verification process and password reset system.
One user said: “I’m still having major trouble and cannot reset my email after being logged out by Microsoft. I’ve tried phone and authenticator rest [reset], both saying unavailable.”
