National Library of Scotland seeking new head of digital
Scotland’s national library has launched a search for a new head of digital as part of efforts to ramp up their online offering over the next decade.
The National Library of Scotland plans to put a third of its collection of 24 million items online as part of a programme considered the largest of its kind anywhere in Europe.
Manuscripts of Scottish writers such as Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott are among items the library intends to have digitised by 2025.

Current head of digital Murat Guven is set to retire at the end of this month, though it is understood his brief has historically taken in much broader responsibilities beyond digital.
A recent reorganisation, however, will see his successor asked to take a much clearer focus on specifically delivering the library’s new strategy through to 2020.
Applications are being invited for the full-time post, which will attract a salary of £57,410. The closing date in 29 May.
