Natalie McGarry charged by police following fraud allegations
Natalie McGarry has been charged by Police Scotland following allegations of fraud.
McGarry’s solicitor, Aamer Anwar, said the MP had been charged with several offences, including the embezzlement of funds, breach of trust, and offences under the Scottish Referendum Act 2013.
She has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

MP faces second police probe
McGarry, now an independent MP, withdrew the SNP whip in November 2015 after a complaint was lodged to Police Scotland by members of Women for Independence (WFI) national executive committee, regarding alleged discrepancies in the group’s accounts.
WFI was forced to contact Police Scotland after identifying a discrepancy between the income it received from donations and its expenditure.
She then faced a second investigation, reportedly related to funds missing from the SNP's Glasgow regional association's accounts.
McGarry is a former convener of that association.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “On Tuesday September 27, a 35-year-old woman was charged in connection with alleged fraud offences.
“A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
WFI declined to comment.
