Local development plan for Caithness and Sutherland approved
A local development plan for Caithness and Sutherland has been approved by councillors at Highland Council.
The Caithness and Sutherland Proposed Local Development Plan (CaSPlan) outlines the strategy for development of the Caithness and Sutherland area over the next 20 years.
CaSPlan can now be used as a material consideration when considering planning applications for the area.
Once the plan is formally adopted, it will replace the Caithness Local Plan and Sutherland Local Plan as a guide for planning decisions for both Caithness and Sutherland.
The council’s Planning, Development and Infrastructure Committee also approved a proposed action programme for delivering the plan.
This will be discussed with community planning partners prior to publication.
Environmental assessments and further discussions will take place before both the proposed plan and the action programme go out to full public consultation in January.
