Craig Murray to begin jail sentence over Salmond trial blog posts
Former UK diplomat Craig Murray will shortly begin an eight-month prison sentence after being found guilty of contempt of court.
The blogger unlawfully published details about the identities of female witnesses in Alex Salmond’s criminal trial last year.
In doing so, he breached a strict court order put in place to protect the identities of the women.
Murray, 62, said he would hand himself into the police shortly to begin the custodial sentence after the Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal.
He was originally sentenced in May but this was deferred to allow his legal team to appeal.
