Britain's Olympics medal haul is proof that the Union between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is a success, Downing Street has declared.
A spokeswoman for Theresa May said Team GB's record-breaking medal haul "reflect what the Union can achieve when we're all on the same team and when we work together".
She added: "When you look at the four nations, we are greater than the sum of our parts."

Scotland's Andy Murray and Wales' Jade Jones were among Team GB's gold medal winners at the Rio Games.
The team won a total of 67 medals - the highest total in over a century - including 27 golds.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has also given her backing to calls for Britain's Olympic heroes to be recognised in the New Year's Honours list.
Her spokeswoman said: "We've had an amazing fortnight at the Rio Olympics and we should be looking at the different ways we can recognise and reward the athletes for all that they have achieved."
