Bill Bowman confirmed as Alex Johnstone’s replacement for North East MSP
Chartered accountant Bill Bowman has been confirmed as the Conservative candidate who will replace Alex Johnstone, who died last week.
Bowman was the next-placed in the party’s North East regional list and had first refusal on Johnstone’s seat.
Bowman, who contested a Dundee seat in the general election and the Holyrood election, spent 20 years working with KPMG in Aberdeen as a partner, and 10 years abroad with KPMG Central and Eastern Europe.

Johnstone, the longest-serving Tory MSP, died last Wednesday at 55 after a battle with cancer.
Party leader Ruth Davidson described him as “a big man with a big heart”. His funeral will be on Friday.
