Anas Sarwar self-isolating after household member's positive COVID test

Anas Sarwar self-isolating after household member's positive COVID test

Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar is self-isolating after a member of his household tested positive for COVID-19.

The party said Sarwar would continue to fulfil his parliamentary commitments remotely while in isolation.

The Glasgow MSP fought the Southside constituency at the recent election.

The area has seen a recent increase in the number of COVID cases as a result of the so-called Indian variant.

It is understood Sarwar has tested negative for COVID.

A Scottish Labour spokesperson said:  “Anas Sarwar is self-isolating as a result of a member of his household testing positive for COVID-19.

“Mr Sarwar is well and will continue to fulfil his role in the Scottish Parliament remotely for the period of his self-isolation.”

Figures released today by Public Health Scotland show Glasgow has 100.3 cases per 100,000 people.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is making vaccination appointments available to people aged 18-39 who live in the worst-affected areas of the city.
