Agilisys hires North Lanarkshire exec to drive digital transformation across the public sector
The assistant chief executive of North Lanarkshire Council has joined public sector digital transformation specialist Agilisys in a role that will focus on ensuring all 32 Scottish local authorities are reaping the benefits of digital technology.
Robert Steenson has taken on the position of delivery director at Agilisys after five and half years at North Lanarkshire, where in addition to being assistant chief executive he held the role of executive director of enterprise and communities.
During his time with the local authority Steenson developed and implemented its digital strategy and work alongside Agilisys on driving the council's digital transformation.
He said his aim now is to ensure all local authorities as well as the “healthcare and blue light organisations that they work so closely with” are able to “drive their digital capabilities forward and deliver better outcomes for all”.
“One of my proudest achievements at North Lanarkshire was to ensure that we delivered a digital strategy designed for North Lanarkshire as a place, focusing on a digital council, digitally enabled communities and maximising the economic opportunities and benefits for all residents and businesses,” he said.
“If I can use this experience to help other organisations do the same, I’ll be very happy.”
Agilisys solutions partner Cheryl Bennet said the organisation is “thrilled” to have Steenson on board, adding that “his achievements at North Lanarkshire Council speak for themselves”.
