Scotland’s European election candidate lists in full
Incumbent MEPs David Martin, Alyn Smith and Nosheena Mobarik are up for re-election to the European Parliament this May as they top their respective party lists.
Scotland’s other three MEPs are leaving their seats at Brussels and Strasbourg, however. Labour’s Catherine Stihler resigned to become chief executive of Open Knowledge International, the SNP’s Ian Hudghton is retiring and former UKIP MEP David Coburn was not selected by his new party The Brexit Party.
Only Scottish Labour and the Scottish Conservatives have selected lists which are ‘zipped’ with alternate male and female candidates. The SNP have two men as their top candidates, while the Scottish greens have three women at the top of their list.
