Breed?

Springer Vizla cross – designer name: Minger Vinger

Age?

13

How long have you had her?

Since nine weeks old – she was my son’s 10th birthday present.

Where did you get her?

Friend who breeds pedigree dogs very successfully – he had a wee mishap!

What do you love about her?

She is just an amazing family pet who loves everyone from my grandchildren to my mum. She’s smart as a button too.

What special talents does she have?

Well, where to begin! Rosette winner up to gold level for obedience and road safety. We spent a summer on agility circuits across Scotland at various gala days and festivals. Lots of tricks, including opening and closing doors and barking on command.

What are her most annoying habits?

Wakes up an hour earlier each week in the summer. Steals my tea.

What’s the worst thing she’s ever done?

As a pup she managed to pull out several LPs, stripped the covers then worked out claws on vinyl make an amazing sound.

What’s the most ridiculous thing you have bought or done for her?

See above! Spending a summer on agility circuits across Scotland at various gala days and festivals. She had her own tent to keep the rain off. Dog fancy dress parties at the obedience class – Coco always won waggiest tail prize. Has anyone else seen a Japanese Akita dressed as a Dalek?

Do you think of yourself as a pet parent or a pet owner?
Pet friend

What’s your first pet or animal-related memory?
Poppins the cat – so named because as a kitten she kept popping in and out of a cardboard box.

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?

Love both cats and dogs – husband and son allergic to cats though, so I guess I love them more.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?

Small pearl-bordered fritillary – as species champion I could choose no other. I love that it has numbers on its wings.
