Elon Musk brands Humza Yousaf a 'super racist' and a 'scumbag'

Elon Musk has called Humza Yousaf a “super racist” and a “scumbag” while also daring the former first minister to “make my day” by suing him.  

Speaking at the Fringe last week, Yousaf said that Musk is “one of the most dangerous men on the planet” and accused the American multi-billionaire of spreading misinformation. 

The comments have reignited a year-old feud between the two men that started when Musk called Yousaf a “blatant racist” over comments the ex-SNP leader made in a three-year-old speech at the peak of the Black Lives Matter movement.  

On Sunday, Yousaf shared a Daily Record article on X, which is owned by Musk, that raised the possibility of him taking legal action against the owner of the social media platform. In the tweet he also branded Musk a “dangerous race baiter” and questioned what “upsets him so much about a Brown, Muslim, progressive politician.” 

“Anybody who goes on social media, even if they own the platform and thinks that free speech is absolute whether in the UK or USA, needs to think again.” Yousaf’s lawyer Aamer Anwar said in the article. “Free speech carries responsibility and if you break the law there are consequences, as we have seen in recent days.” 

Musk replied on X: “He’s obviously super racist against white people. I dare that scumbag to sue me. Go ahead, make my day…” 

The attack on Yousaf comes after a week of online sparring matches with UK politicians emanating from the false claims Musk has made about the riots that spread across the country.  

The riots started after false information was spread on X that the attacker in the Southport murders was a Muslim immigrant who had arrived in Britain by boat. These claims were proven to be false.  

In an interview on CNN, Yousaf said Musk could “do a simple Google search” to verify the comments he was tweeting before spreading misinformation. 

“Instead, he seeks to amplify it and perpetuate it,” Yousaf said. “So he’s amplified these white supremacists, these far-right neo-Nazi conspiracy theories and has almost called for civil war in Europe.” 

Musk shared doctored images of a supposed Telegraph article claiming that the UK government was planning to use detainment camps in the Falklands to house rioters. He took the post down but issued no apology after the fake story garnered two million views on his social media platform X. 

A spokesperson for the Telegraph Media Group said: “This is a fabricated headline for an article that does not exist. We notified relevant platforms and requested that the post be taken down.” 

Musk further shared claims that UK police are operating on a system of two-tier policing that targets white rioters over minorities. He has also referred to the prison sentence given to a 69-year-old man who armed himself with a wooden cosh and joined a riot that burnt down a library in Liverpool as “messed up.”
